The Old Testament in scripture has many plays on people’s names. Today, when children are named, we mostly choose the names because we like the way that they sound. Sometimes the names can be tied to the family and have significance as a family member is commemorated. Is this why Jesus is supposed to be called Jesus? Is this why the name Jesus is tied to the name Immanuel? Is there something significant in this name? If you are curious about these questions please stay tuned as we listen to our sermon titled, “What is in a Name?”
