Why a God-Man? (John 17:1-5, LD 5) | 2008-2009 Catechism Sermons

The Israelites sacrificed animals as a means of cleansing. There are different sacrifices prescribed for different offenses. If this is the case then why does the sacrifice that appeases the wrath of God have to be the God-Man? Further, why does Christ have to live a life on this earth?
