When Can We Take an Oath? (Matthew 5:33-37; LD 37) | 2008-2009 Catechism Sermons

We are those who bear witness to the name of the Lord as we are secured by the Lord. The Lord’s name is what defines Him. You cannot abstract the name from the Lord HImself. So, when can we use this name? Can we take an oath? What do we do with Christ stating that we are not to take oaths in Matthew 5? How do we deal with the apostle Paul taking an oath invoking the name of the Lord? Is Paul contradicting Christ? If you are curious to hear the answer to these questions please stay tuned as we hear, “When Can We Take an Oath?”
