Sacramental Metonymy (I Cor. 10:1-22; LD 29) | 2006-2007 Catechism Sermons

In 1 Cor. 10 the apostle Paul exhorts us in light of the sacrament of communion. Does this mean that that the correlation of the elements is so close to the reality that they are one in the same? Does this mean that the bread and the wine are transformed into Christ? Why would the apostle Paul do such an exhortation?
