From Fasting to Feasting (Esther 5:1-14)

In this sermon we examine scenes 7-8 in act 2 of this book. The three-day fast has come to a close and now we wait to see if the Lord will bring about a greater exodus. They have skipped the Passover feast waiting for the greater Passover. As Esther hosts this feast Hamaan celebrates his victory over Israel. Ironically, Esther’s feast undoes the banquet of Hamaan, and Hamaan’s celebration ironically celebrates the victory of God. Thus, both Esther and Hamaan project the greater future exodus of God’s city building Endeavor.
